This year’s black Friday or should it be called frantic Thursday started the same as other years. A little bit earlier, lines a little longer and more fights than previous years. There was a trampled Wal-Mart employee on Long island who dies when 200 people rushed into the store. Four shoppers who tried to help the trampled employee were also injured, including a woman who was eight months pregnant.
Three fights broke out around 7:00 p.m. at the Wal-Mart in Rialto as shoppers stood in lines, amongst the barricades, waiting for the deals the store was offering according to CBS Los Angeles and the San Bernardino Sun. The store scheduled to open at 8:00p.m., opened earlier because of the crowd that was gathering outside the store. The line had grown to over 3,000 people.
A Wal-Mart manager at the store opening the doors early led to the brawls. “There was tension that flared up from people cutting in line “, sergeant Nicholas Borchard of the Rialto police department told CBS Los Angeles. One fight was started by Raymond Leonard Rice, 25, who got out of a car and began kicking and punching another shopper that was walking across the parking lot.
Rice, walked up to the victim and was punching and even kicking him in the head. Rice was then assaulted by a female who can to the rescue of the victim that was beaten by Rice. Rice then proceeded to assault an officer who was trying to arrest him. There is video showing Tasers being used by the police to try and get Rice under control. A bystander took video of the incident and it is posted on line.
This is the same thing that has been happening at other Wal-Marts around the United States today. It seems that on Thanksgiving people can love, but turn into heathens when trying to get the best deal of the season.
