Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Giving new meaning to the term “dirty cop”, Officer Daniel Ken Holtzclaw was taken into custody this past Thursday on what is termed “probable cause” for sexually assaulting as many as seven women. While no charges yet been filed, detectives from the sexual crimes unit expect the district attorney to file multiple counts against the disgraced officer including indecent exposure, sexual battery, forcible oral sodomy, and rape. Officer Holtzclaw, age 27, had been on the force for three years and was assigned the duty of walking a beat. The practice presumably causes an officer to form ties with the local community as people easily recognize the officer. His violations also include a serious breach of public trust.
The first victim to step forward was a 57-year-old woman who is a grandmother in her own right. Police say she has been shattered by the incident where Holtzclaw forced her to perform fellatio on him or face the public shame of being arrested. Under duress, she did as he requested and now struggles to leave her home. She admits that while driving and passing by an officer, she suffers emotional trauma from having an officer violate her.
His victims are all adult women between the ages of 34 and 57. He would attack them during his regular shift which started at 4:00PM local time and ended at 2:00AM. At times, he would force the victims to follow him to secluded areas. At other times, he would brazenly assault them at a routine traffic stop. In terms of his sexual deviancy, Holtzclaw is what is known as a risk taker. While most sexual deviants have a very low rate of recidivism, those which are risk takers have a high rate of repeating their offenses as evidenced by the number of victims he accumulated. His bond has been set at $5 million.
