LOS ANGELES – In an unprecedented PR move, Olympic gold medalist and American swim champ, Michael Phelps, is retracting the apology he made earlier this week regarding his recent use of marijuana.

When pictures of 23 year old Phelps smoking marijuana surfaced this week, his handlers scrambled to issue a statement of apology. With 100 million dollars in endorsements potentially on the line, it’s a move that made sense to most people. That is, until the counter-offers started to roll in.
Pro-marijuana endorsement offers began to catch the attention of Phelps and his management team. “He’s been offered the cover of High Times magazine and a lucrative contract from a medical marijuana supply company. He’s also in negotations with an all-hemp swimwear designer, who thinks that Michael could breathe life into their fledgling company,” says Michelle L’Anderson, a image consultant for Phelps.
Snoopadelic Films also wants to lend official endorsement to Phelps. Founder Snoop Dogg says, “Hey, we need a white brother – scratch that, a white, athletic, Olympian brother out there representing indo. It’s time the world sees that a little chronic isn’t gonna slow somebody down. He has eight gold medals. Eight gold medals!”
Joan O’Conner, an image marketing expert at Broward Virtual University, says that the once hard line that separates sports celebrity from musicians and actors continues to blur. “These days, fans are mostly concerned about the use of performance-enhancing drugs. More and more people are coming to recognize that marijuana is least evil when it comes to drug use. There are plenty of people who have educated themselves on the risks of drug abuse who would rather see Phelps hitting a bong than drinking a beer. Kids want a star they can relate to. Phelps is that kind of star. He’s kind of dorky-looking, he’s not that great with a script, and he smokes weed. This is exactly the kind of idol young America needs. Someone who can achieve monumental success and still kick back with a little bud.”
Even outspoken critic of most everything enjoyable Rush Limbaugh spoke in support of Phelps. “The world is used to seeing celebrejects like Lindsay Lohan and Kate Moss get into trouble, time and time again, and these are people who have problems with serious drugs. Unfortunately, they rely on marginal talent over endorsements to keep them afloat and they manage to remain quite successful. What’s wrong with giving a little credence to someone who truly is talented and who is smart enough to use a drug that’s been proven safe?”
Phelps publicized statement was brief: “It turns out I’m not so stupid and I didn’t make a huge mistake. I’m not sorry I smoked marijuana and there’s a pretty good chance I’ll do it again. Hey, do you want to hear me say ‘roll a fat one’ in Japanese? I’m Rosetta Stoned!”

Although I agree with you, the supreme court found otherwise. See Gonzales v. Raich (2005). They ruled that Congress may ban the use of cannabis even where states approve its use for medicinal purposes.

Marijuana use is very common among white collar professionals including lawyers, professors, bankers. Even Obama and Clinton have admitted to using it. People dont talk about it for fear of persecution.
It is unreasonable to treat it any different than alcohol. It no better or worse. You dont drink and drive and the same rule applies to marijuana.

If this were to happen, how long do you think it would take before Kelloggs to be pre-weed – 3 weeks or 4.

Obama has authority to legalize weed on the Federal level. If you do look at the Constitution, read the 10th Amendment because it says that the War on Drugs is completely illegal. I mean, Obama won’t legalize squat, but if he actually wanted to have to sates regulate it as intended by our Constitution, he has the authority.

This plant would change humanity for the better if people would only open their eyes! Though, “eye-opening” may be slightly difficult for those whom have just inhaled or consumed.
