San Francisco – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) announced today at a press conference in front of the Federal Building that it was filing suit on behalf of a three day-old boy who had just left the Sausalito Memorial Hospital to go home with his parents. Amanda James-Goldberg, senior staff attorney for the ACLU’s Bay Area Legal Action Committee, stated in her public announcement that the boy had been denied a basic civil right to have a say in whether or not he was born, and that the ACLU had decided to file a suit of $26 million to seek punitive damages from the parents.

“Civil rights are under constant attack in 21st century America”, James-Goldberg bellowed at the event, attended by an estimated 135 local activists and other interested parties. “It is the belief of the ACLU that the most fundamental human right of all is the right to have a say so in one’s own creation, and as such we have filed this suit with the hopes that the legal community will eventually recognize this right.”

Attorneys for the young boy’s family released a statement to the press shortly after the ACLU event stating that they had every intention of fighting the “absurd legal shenanigans” crafted by the liberal-leaning organization, and wanted to give the family time to enjoy its newest edition prior to actively fighting the suit. “At the very least, the family would like a chance to christen the child before having to appear in court”, stated David Morgenstern, lead attorney on the case and a senior partner at Morgenstern, Davis and Powell, a prestigious San Francisco law firm known for defending local celebrities.
